We called it
2-1 to the Last Detail: We Called San Sebastian
Real Sociedad 2-1 Levante. Exact score, correct half-time result, goals markets all green. Tom and Sheila locked this one 24 hours out.

The Short Version: We Nailed It
Real Sociedad 2-1 Levante. That was the scoreline we called. That was the scoreline on the board at full time. Eight markets entered, seven landed. One miss, and we will get to it. But first, let's enjoy this for a moment, because an exact score call coming in is not something you take for granted.
Óskarsson broke the deadlock in the sixth minute, Nacho Pérez pulled one back for Levante just after the twenty-minute mark, and then Benat Turrientes restored the home side's lead in the 27th. Half-time: 2-1. Full time: 2-1. The second half was tight, scrappy, and punctuated by four yellow cards across the final twenty-plus minutes. No late drama, no equaliser. Reale Arena held its nerve.
Tom
Simulation has 1-1 as the single most likely scoreline at 10%, then 2-1 at 9%. With Sociedad's recent home goals haul, I'm landing on 2-1.
Sheila
Levante will nick one, they usually do. But Sociedad at home right now? They're clinical. 2-1 home feels right to me too.
Nine percent is not a massive probability. But when you pair the numbers with the context, the four-game winning run, the goals-per-game average, the softness in Levante's defence, the away side's habit of contributing something without ever really threatening to take the game, 2-1 was always the scoreline that made the most sense. The model and the eye test aligned, and that alignment matters.
What We Got Right
Almost everything. Home side to score was the foundational call, and it landed inside six minutes. First-half goal, locked, and the game had three before the break. Half-time result called as home or draw, and Sociedad led 2-1 at the interval. Away side to score, yes at medium conviction, and Levante's Nacho Pérez made good on that. Goals landing 1-4, the simulation had that at 72.2% and three goals finished comfortably inside the band. Total goals over 1.5, the anchor of the whole card, green. Clean half for the home side, with both goals arriving in the first period, Levante were kept scoreless in the second 45 minutes, so that one landed too.
Sheila
We're calling 2-1. Over 1.5 is the anchor. Even if the game tightens, we get there.
She was right. The second half tightened completely. Four yellow cards, a visibly frustrated Levante side chasing a goal they never got, and Sociedad comfortable enough to manage the clock. The anchor held.
The One That Got Away
Second-half goal. We called yes. The answer was no. Levante had the motivation, four cards tells you they were pushing, but the home side's defensive organisation in the final thirty minutes was good enough to keep them out. We leaned on the stats, both sides' conceding rates and the overall goal volume in recent fixtures, and missed the game-management piece. Sociedad with a lead to protect at home, against a side who had already spent their attacking energy in the first half, are a different proposition. That is on us.
The broader read here is one of genuine encouragement, though. Sociedad's Reale Arena form is real, structured, and consistent. Levante look like a side who can contribute to scorelines without ever changing them. The exact score call connecting tells you the process is working. Next time we see these two on the card, the 2-1 template is going straight back into the thinking.
